Green Book is a comedy-drama film directed by Peter Farrelly and is based from a true story in which a very renowned and famous African-American pianist Donald Walbridge Shirley hired an Italian-American nightclub bouncer Tony "Lip" Vallelonga as his driver and protector during one of his concert tours around the southern part of the United States in an era in which racial segregation laws are being followed by some of the states. It stars Viggo Mortensen playing as Tony Lip and Mahershala Ali as Don Shirley, both of which have been nominated for this year’s Oscar as Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively. These two fellas have seriously good chemistry on-screen. Two wildly different personalities who went on a very long road trip around the south. I really love the back and forth banter between them. The dialogues were very funny and sharp. For a comedy film, this one is a very dramatic and emotional one that tells more to the difficult life of being a colored individual during the times in which racial segregation is being followed, no matter how talented and respected you are. Mahershala Ali was really really great in this movie. I get his point why he wanted to put on a tour on those places instead of choosing the northern path. He played him with dignity and strength and a very articulate man yet at times a very vulnerable and lonely man who didn’t have any families or friends at the time of his peak. Viggo Mortensen, on the other hand, did an amazing job playing a very vulgar and hardworking man trying to make a living for his family and also plays the opposite characteristic of Don Shirley, who’s spontaneous and doesn’t give any single fucks to other people’s opinion. It’s a feel-good road trip movie that does so much rather than being funny but also tells a very deeper meaning to it about social status. I didn’t have any issue towards its pacing as I didn’t feel any stagnant or it didn’t feel something dragging during the runtime of the movie. The characters were great especially to the two main leads who were accompanied by amazing and powerful performances by the actors. It's a straightforward story that I'm pretty sure that you will be wildly entertained by the witty dialogues, great character development, funny sequences and heavy emotional moments.

OVERALL
GREEN BOOK is a very entertaining movie with a great script, loveable characters, and a feel-good story. I was really having a good time at the whole movie with emotions flowing through my body with both happiness and sadness. It takes on a very sensitive subject matter but told in a very comedic way. Not something that I have ever seen from a movie but this one really works. It's one of the best movies I have seen from 2018 and I highly recommend this to everyone to watch it.
