MOVIE PLOT

John Wick Chapter 3 is the sequel to John Wick Chapter 2 and is the third film for the John Wick franchise. The story follows right after the ending of John Wick Chapter 2 in which John Wick has been excommunicated by the assassin's guild after killing one of the high ranking members on the Continental grounds and is on the run after the guild put a 14million bounty for his head where the other assassins around the world tries to kill him.

REVIEW

John Wick franchise has come a long way starting from being this hit cult classic during the first release of the original John Wick movie until today which became one of the successful franchises and the subject to many memes recently. There are so many factors why this franchise is so hit to the audiences and its newest and third sequel really didn't disappoint.

It's really obvious that the main selling point of this movie are the action sequences of it. The action sequences were so good and so flawless that it's impossible to take your eyes off of it for a minute. There are so many things happening during the fights and yet it doesn't feel chaotic. The choreography was really well done. The amazing thing about it is that even though the fights are obviously choreographed, it still feels like a real fight cause you could see these small details like small mistakes during the action sequences. Like a dance or a song that when you rehearsed it, you kind of perfected every notes and every stepping and even though it was executed perfectly, it doesn't really feel something special or genuine other than being executed really well. I admire that the stunt team really added those small details like delays during reloading of the gun or some mistakes during the fights cause it added a bit more realism to it and it just feels that you're in a real fight. Much the same with its predecessor, some of the action sequences were gut-wrenching and so cringey to watch.

In terms of its story, I really like the direction where it is headed to. It expanded a bit more around the universe of John Wick. They also introduced new interesting characters and organizations that I would really like to know more in the future. I really like the secondary villain of this movie. He has this entertaining personality that I really enjoyed watching and he was just plainly bad-ass, well of course second only to John Wick.

My only gripe of this movie is Keanu Reeve's dialogues. His character rarely speaks and when he do, he just spouted some one-liners or just grunts and moans during the action fights. It's just really my nitpick of the film and I didn't really mind it. It just something that I noticed off of him. Also, the pacing of the movie from the start was fast because it quickly follow-up to the ending of the second movie. Though I kind of feel that the movie got slow-down at the half-part of it but then it quickly picked-up the pace from where it left off.

OVERALL

JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 - PARABELLUM is a very enjoyable movie with a substantial story accompanied with amazing fighting sequences. Keanu Reeve's was phenomenal especially on his action. The movie expanded more about the John Wick's lore and we might even get to know more about his character background in the future sequel (Yes, it's confirmed. There is going to be John Wick 4). If you're an action fan, then you're going to really like this film because its action/fight choreography were one of the best. I would certainly recommend this movie for you to watch especially if you have watched the first and second John Wick movies.
