THE BIG SICK (O-RVZ MOVIE REVIEW)

It's a Romantic Film starred by Kumail Nanjiani as Kumail and Zoe Kazan as Emily. The story tells about the romantic relationship between the 2 of them right after they met at a local stand-up comedy bar. It's written also by Kumail Nanjiani (the actor who played Kumail) together with his wife Emily Gordon. So you might notice that the screenwriter's name are somewhat similar to the character's name from the film. Well, this film is loosely based on their real-life relationship of the screenwriters Kumail Nanjiani & Emily Gordon. The thing that makes this film so great is how charming it is while at the same time heart-breaking. It's a tear-jerker film, and to be honest it's hard to watch this film without your eyes becoming so watery. I also loved how this film depicts two different cultures (Kumail being a Pakistani & Emily being American) and the struggles and challenges they have to face just so their relationship could work. This film was very well written right from the dialogues of each of the characters until the storyline that threads this film. No wonder how easily they make this film so great when the story itself is based from their real-life love story. I feel so invested watching these 2 characters during the stages of their relationship. You can really tell that this film is good when it successfully engages you in any sort of feeling that the film wants you to feel. They have successfully done that by not only these relatable characters but also the overall love story of the two. So many things to say about this film but I wouldn't want to spoil it to you. It is a really long movie with a running time of 2 hours but I didn't mind the longevity of the film. I was fully engaged right from the start till the ending of this film.

OVERALL

THE BIG SICK is a very romantic and enjoyable movie. Nowadays, there are not so many good rom-com films out there. A handful maybe and thankfully enough this one is really one of the best romantic movies out there. I have also been a sucker of these type of films especially when they are done right. This film is up there as one of my favorites.
