TRIPLE FRONTIER (O-RVZ MOVIE REVIEW)

Triple Frontier is an action-thriller-heist film released and distributed by Netflix. The movie is directed by J. C. Chandor and stars some of the notable faces around Hollywood such as Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, and Pedro Pascal. The movie is about five veterans led by Santiago "Pope" Garcia (Oscar Isaac) who regrouped his old crew to take on a very secret heist-mission of robbing a known drug dealer in South American.

Heist films are one of my go-to films and seeing the casts alone was already interesting to me. If you have watched some of the Netflix’s Narcos TV series, then you’re going to familiarize about the tone and plot of the film. We even have Pedro Pascal from the Narcos TV series playing as one of the veterans. The story is very simple. We have these five men who are retired veterans from the military seemingly shown from the film as experts at their field, planned a heist to steal to one of the known and powerful drug dealers in one of the South American country. What makes this film so different from any other heist film, is that at half point from the film, it becomes an adventure/survival film in which these guys will try to survive from any of the things that will come on their way. I really liked the direction of the film at the half of it because things were becoming spicier and you are unknown to all of the possible events that this film would go through. Some of the things happened from it really shocked me and it really caught me off guard. I also liked the character development from the film and these five guys really put on a show with their each own unique personality. All of them really played their part and all of these characters has their own place in the story. The movie really relied on human emotions and decision making and it’s really special that they also put emphasis on the eagerness of a human to bounce back and learn from those mistakes. Apart from that, the movie also talks about the greediness of man. Greed can only get you so far and can only do more harm than good. It also talks about loyalty and brotherhood. It talks about family as well, one of the touching subjects from the film. The performances were really great, especially from Ben Affleck. I really liked Ben Affleck’s portrayal of Tom "Redfly" Davis, playing as the captain or the head of the group. He does have a major role in this film and has one of the interesting story arcs. Though all of their characters were really memorable but his character really stood out for me.

OVERALL

TRIPLE FRONTIER is one machismo movie that really packs a punch. It’s a good thriller for me and some parts of it were really just damn intense. The characters were memorable with each of them really played a role in the movie. The movie does have a very basic storyline but the film really did something different from your usual heist film and it really left an impression on me. I enjoyed the whole film a lot. It was just an intense, shocking, sad film but also an utterly enjoyable right through the end.
