REVIEW
It's a newest entry to the Fast and Furious franchise, albeit a spin-off from it. It stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson returning as the policeman Luke Hobbs teaming up with a former villain from one of the previous Fast & Furious films as Deckard Shaw played by Jason Statham. We also have newer faces joining up to the franchise with Idris Elba playing as Brixton Lore who's the villain of the movie and Vanessa Kirby playing Hattie Shaw, sister of Deckard Shaw.
It seems that The Rock can co-exist with any other actors out there because he, Jason and Vanessa certainly oozes charisma on the screen. I could watch more of this Hobbs & Shaw sequels (if there will be) as long as they have these 3 together. They look so good with one another and I was really entertained by the back-and-forth banter between Rock and Jason. Vanessa killed here role for playing a bad-ass MI6 agent. She was absolutely stunning at every scene and her action sequences were phenomenal. Her slim stature helped her a lot of providing this seemingly fluid-like action scenes and her facial expression just really killed it all. I hoped I get to see more of her in this type of films cause she was just definitely a bad-ass one and maybe I could see her in future MCU movies? Probably playing Sue Storm in Fantastic Four reboot? The character story was really good. I liked the story of the Shaw siblings and as well furthering down the story of Luke Hobbs. I really got to know more about their backgrounds and also found out some interesting character development between these two. The Fast and Furious franchise is really well known of featuring expensive cars while the more recent ones were also featuring some wild stunts, this one is no exception. There were a lot of cool car chase scenes and the action scenes were really well choreographed. I laughed some of the jokes which most of them were from the banter and insults that they exchanged between them. There were also some surprises from the film which I will not mention of what it is. My only going concern towards the film is the running time of it. It really feels long considering the plot of it was just very simple. There's too many things happening for that story and it could have been lessen since it doesn't really needed that much.
OVERALL
I still enjoyed watching the movie. The action scenes were great, the character story was good and the back-and-forth banter of Rock and Statham were really damn entertaining. Some parts of it really felt unnecessary and I think the story would have been shorten to save more time for a story that is so simple. Who knows where this franchise will headed to and I am certainly curious and will check it out if there are going to be new sequels of it.
