Overboard is a romantic comedy film starring Eugenio Derbez and Anna Faris. The movie is directed by Rob Greenberg and is a remake to the 1987 original movie of the same name. The story of the movie is about a wealthy rich man Leonardo Montenegro (Eugenio Derbez) who had amnesia after falling off from his yacht, goes into a pretend marriage after Kate Sullivan (Anna Faris) convinced him about the fake relationship with her.
I find the story of the movie quite interesting. I didn't like how they executed that story played in the movie since it wasn't done well. Some parts of the film were just really bad and it's quite obvious for you to notice especially at the nearer end of the film. The film really suffers from that it really feels like a low-quality made movie. HOWEVER! I was really surprised that I got deeply into the film and I had a good time watching it. Yes I know I said that the film was bad but there's something about this film that made laugh, sad and happy at the same time. How could I be so affected by a film that I deemed a bad film? Well, that's the beauty of a film. Some movies don't really speak to you no matter how technically good the film was made but there are those movies that are just bad in terms of the technicalities but still it speak to you regardless how bad it is and this film is one of those. The genre of this film might be one factor why this movie speaks to me because I love watching romantic-comedy films but there are other rom-com films that I have watched that I just couldn't stand and liked. I really like the casts of the film especially the two main leads. I've seen multiple rom-com films with Anna Faris before and much like from her previous films, she was still good and funny. The other factor that made this film enjoyable for me to watch is because of Eugenio Derbez. He was just really really charismatically good. His lines were really funny and he delivered it perfectly with his comedic timing. His emotional side wasn't really quite explored but there is one emotional scene with him that was just sad. His performance really elevated the film and it benefited greatly from it.

OVERALL
OVERBOARD is nowhere near greatness but still, it works for me. Some scenes were really funny and the casts' performances were good. The movie suffers from mediocre and sloppy writing of its storyline but the movie kinda emits that happy and romantic feeling which made this film enjoyable to watch. I wouldn't straightly recommend this but if you don't have anything to do, this movie is a perfect movie for you to waste your time.
