Rampage is a sci-fi monster action film directed by Brad Peyton, who also directed San Andreas. Both of these films are starred with Dwayne Johnson aka The People's Champ "The Rock". Dwayne must be getting these paychecks from left and right as he has so many movies coming out this year. Who can complain? He's a charismatic bald dude that can carry a single movie even how bad it is. Rampage is not a bad movie and it's neither a great one. It's a generic action monster film filled with so many explosions, cheap jokes and big ass monsters. This is pretty much like San Adreas film. Just imagine that these big ass monsters are causing the earthquakes. People will still flock to his movies no matter how bad or generic film it is. He's the people's champ after all and He does sure entertain us a lot. The CGI of the monsters were surely done well with sharp details right from the eyes till down its feet. George, the albino gorilla, one of the animals who got infected by the pathogen was pleasing to see due to its amazing CGI. It reminded me of a downgrade "Caesar". Of course, no one can really top the work done on the Planet of the Apes franchise. The characters were okay as well. They just fit in right into the story. What I didn't like about this film are the villains. They were just so cliche villains that so awkwardly to watch. They're not even that intimidating and it's hard to believe that they were responsible for the pathogen. This is the kind of a film where you don't have to really focus much on the story. It's a generic plot that we usually see in other generic monsters films.

OVERALL
RAMPAGE is still a likable film amidst of all the issues surrounding it. There were good moments from this film that can't be denied. I was really entertained by the battle of the big monsters rampaging down the city. Although I wasn't that impressed with the story and the characters of this film. For me, this is not that film which I will certainly first pick if I need to watch one. Maybe if I'm really really that bored then I would have to.
