Slaughterhouse Rulez is a horror-comedy film written and directed by Crispian Mills and stars Asa Butterfield, Finn Cole, Hermione Corfield, Michael Sheen, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Margot Robbie. The plot follows in a remotely boarding school in England which become a bloody battleground right after a sinkhole has appeared at a nearby fracking site unleashing horrors within it. I didn’t really know about the plot of the film when I first watched this. The first half of the film didn’t really have anything but has this mysterious boarding school which got some secrecy going around on it. The school has got some different houses in it much like the Hogwarts Academy in the Harry Potter films and one of the houses in which our leads were put into was called “Sparta”. The name of the house doesn’t really resemble all the students residing on it as they were described some sort of a loser group. There’s nothing much interesting going on around the first half of the film. Going on the second half of the film, this is where the horrors are starting to unleash. The movie is bloody, like very very bloody. It’s a funny movie which filled with smart humor and wit. I really like some of the jokes used around on the film and some of the sequences were really hilarious. There’s a history going around the boarding school which they didn’t really dig deep. They didn’t really fully explain what was going on around and inside the school so there’s a bit of a gray area that I was hoping for it to explore more. The story is very interesting and that’s what kept me to continue watching the film even though the first half of it was a bit of boredom. The characters were okay but don’t really have a big of an impact on me. Some of which were there for comedic purposes and some of them were just there for the sake of the story. Most of the film is set in a night time so I didn’t really get to appreciate it more due to the darkness of it. Apart from a horror film, the movie does tackle some sensitive stuff within it like bullying and destroying the mother nature. They were successfully able to convey those messages in this horror-comedy film which at first wasn’t really expecting for it to work.

OVERALL

SLAUGHTERHOUSE RULEZ is a film that has a very interesting story in which you have to wait for the second half to fully enjoy it. The problem of this film is that the story really progress so slow and was a bit boring and if I didn’t have any patience, I would have stopped watching it. The film is very bloody and very gruesome and also shows stuff that is generally not for kids. The characters were just okay with some of them were funny to watch. It’s also a very comedic movie with funny dialogues and has some hilarious scene sequences. The movie is just an average one but will still be able to provide some enjoyment out of it if you're into this kind of genre.
