THE CHRISTMAS CHRONICLES (O-RVZ MOVIE REVIEW)

The Christmas Chronicles is a Christmas Comedy film newly released by Netflix and is available for you to watch. The film stars Kurt Russell as Santa Claus which plot follows when two kids accidentally crashed Santa Claus' sleigh. The three of them sets off of an adventure to retrieve all the gifts and reindeers who got lost during the crash and in order to retain the Christmas Spirit.

Christmas Day is definitely fast approaching and what other ways for you to celebrate it, binge-watching Christmas themed films during Christmas Eve. The Christmas Chronicles is a new film for you to add on your Christmas Movie Watchlist and although I find the film something to be lacking in terms of the sense of adventure, the spirit of Christmas is still there. There are so many films already which features Santa Claus on it and always my favorite aspect of that is seeing the entire North Pole and the whole warehouse in which the elves and Santa are making these gifts. It's just that it is so magical and it always entertains me whenever I see that. I was a bit let down on how this film portrays the North Pole. It was less magical for me and the entire atmosphere seems kinda dark. I really was hoping for it to be a bit more magical given with our present technologies and all these awesome CGIs that they can produce but you know given the budget, it really puts some limitation on the film. This is my only complaint on the film but the tone of it still holds up like any those Christmas Films and still produces this kind of uplifting Christmassy feeling after watching it. What I liked about this new iteration of Santa Claus is that they give a bit more personality to him. Kurt's performance on the film really helped in providing another quality into Santa Claus character. Seeing him without those bright red suit and the huge white beard, it really feels like one of your ordinary uncle or grandpa that you can chill out with and also teaches you some life lessons as well. The elves portrayed in this film were really damn cute. I liked how they portray them as these little smurfs-like stature mix with a bit of Gremlin-like appearances. Storywise, there's nothing much new to take here. It's your typical Christmas film that is light in tone, with some fun adventures and funny jokes.

OVERALL

THE CHRISTMAS CHRONICLES is a good addition to your watchlist on Christmas Eve. It's a light-hearted, uplifting and fun film that has a new take on Santa Claus character. The elves were cute, the story is a generic "Let's save Christmas" kinda thing but it still got me entertained. I only wished they had put a bit more magic to the North Pole location. I find it quite dim and dull given that this is a film about Christmas with Santa Claus on it and all the bright color associated with it. Nonetheless, I would still recommend this film if you're the type of person who loves watching Christmas Films during Christmas Eve.
