THE EQUALIZER 2 (O-RVZ MOVIE REVIEW)

The Equalizer 2 is an action-thriller film which is a sequel to the original film The Equalizer released last 2014. Antoine Fuqua returns at the directing chair and also Denzel Washington as Robert McCall, an ex-marine and DIA spy for this sequel. The plot of this sequel follows after the first event from the original film and also sets him to a revenge path after one of his friend/colleague is killed.

I've never seen Denzel returning in a sequel from any of his films. It's not really his nature but I love seeing Denzel again kicking some ass. Though this sequel retains some of the sweet and violent action sequences that we see from him during the original film, it kinda felt that the storyline progressed so slowly. It took like an hour for things to get heated up and admittedly I got bored with some portions of it. I did enjoy with some of those cool action sequences during the last part. The storyline was also generic. I've seen this already with other action films as well. I'm not even sure if a sequel of this was really necessary. The original film was already good enough for me but here I am already done watching it. I love seeing Denzel from any of his films. He still delivers when it comes to his performances but there's nothing really new to take from his character on this sequel.

OVERALL

THE EQUALIZER 2 is a sequel that I wasn't really so excited for. I'm more excited about the new John Wick sequel. At least the John Wick series offers something new to their storyline aside from having super awesome and sick cool action choreography. It's not also a bad film. It's a generic action thriller film that so happens to star one of the best working actors these days. I would say that the second part of it was at least entertaining but it definitely took too long for things to get spicy. I would recommend this if there's nothing really good else to watch.
