Uncle Drew is a sports-comedy-adventure film directed by Charles Stone III and stars famous basketball athletes/icons dressed as old people such as Kyrie Irving as the titular character, Shaquille O'Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, and Lisa Leslie. It tells a story about Dax played by Lil Rel Howery (Get Out), a streetball team manager who tries to form a team to compete in a streetball competition league. He then finds Uncle Drew an old basketball player whom we already know from those Pepsi Commercials, gathers all his old teammates back for this one last ride of Basketball. I did have an enjoyable time watching this film. It's these types of movies that you can just sit back and just chillax without investing too much about it. It's not running for any Oscar Categories and I appreciate that they make a movie that was fun, enjoyable and quite surprisingly has some charming and happy moments. This movie kinda reminded me of Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle. Not that it was good like Kung Fu Hustle, that movie was a pure genius but this one though, it was fun seeing all Uncle Drew's old teammates back together with some fun road trip happening along the way. The storyline is a generic one that you usually see from any comedy sports film and some parts of it were just cliché. The characters were also fun but not too goofy which I appreciated. Sometimes, over the top characters in a comedy film can really get you annoyed but for this movie, I think they were okay. Maybe the villains were a bit much but it was tolerable. I honestly thought that this movie would suck. I set my expectations low that this movie will be your typical generic comedy film with no substances with few or more forced jokes happening in every scene. I did not expect that it would turn out the other way around.

OVERALL
UNCLE DREW is not a great movie and it's not a bad one either. I had a good time watching this with some funny scenes for you to laugh on. I may have a problem with the pacing of it from the start. It didn't directly set-up the whole storyline of the movie and there were unnecessary scenes that I felt not needed. If you're a fan of basketball, you would really want to see this movie for all those sick and amazing crossovers from Kyrie Irving. If you're just a moviegoer who needs some time to chill, then this movie would be the right choice for you.
