There are so many take of different Zombie movie nowadays and before even the popular zombie TV series "The Walking Dead", there was this small movie called "Zombieland" directed by Ruben Fleischer released on 2009 which I did really loved. The movie starred the likes of Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin and it's one of Emma Stone's early works which propelled her current status today as one of the best working Hollywood actress. What made this movie really different from the other zombie movies are the dynamic of the main characters towards each other and how just enjoyable and funny the movie was. Fast forward to 2019 (9 years after the original movie released), they developed a sequel off of it (finally) and here we are now watching the sequel titled Zombieland: Double Tap (for those who hasn't watched Zombieland, Double Tap is one of Columbus' rules of securely killing a zombie target after the first gun shot which I think is the best rule of all especially if you're in a Zombie Apocalyptic World).

Zombieland: Double Tap the sequel is still directed by the original director Ruben (who also directed Venom), with the original actors and characters returning. We get to see the original Zombie Killing family back again for another adventure and the movie also introduced some new characters with Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch, Rosario Dawson, Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch. There is also a special cameo from the movie which the first Zombieland movie had Bill Murray so check that out as well.

I really had a great time watching this sequel. The tone of the movie is much much funnier than the first one and I really liked how the characters growth with one another. I liked that they tacked more the family aspect of it and it really provides more character growth to our beloved characters. There are some similar elements which they had reused from the first movie but I didn't really mind that much since most of the stuffs that I got from this sequel are really new to me. They had introduced different types of Zombie strain which really intrigued me the most. It's one of the new things that they had introduced to the film and somehow it really worked as it provides a different vibe and a whole new threat that they need to face. Some of those new unique zombie types weren't really used that much and I kind of hoped that they had utilized it more on the film. In terms of the characters, it's still easily one of the best dynamic well written characters. The characters alone would really make you want to watch this franchise and having the zombies are only the side dishes. I really liked watching a movie with well-written characters and it's also a perfect combination incorporating it to zombies (that's why I loved The Walking Dead series, the first seasons at least). The characters are so really relatable and I really loved their personal connection with one another. The characters felt so real and the original actors still had the best working chemistry on screen. They really feel like a real family. I think some sequels where they really fall are the new things that they're trying to introduced but this sequel really worked for me especially the new characters. Madison played by Zoey Deutch was shockingly good and unbelievably funny and her character stole the movie for me. She played a dumb blonde girl trying to survive the apocalyptic world and I often quite not liked how movies portray blonde-haired people as dumb since it feels stereotypical and some performances just felt so forced and cringey. However, she does this in a way that doesn't really feel awkward and forced and sometimes she does it so innocently and every time she does this typical dumb blonde stuffs it just feels so natural of her making it even more funny. I really believe she found a niche to comedy and her career would slowly boost up just like Emma Stone's career after starring on the first Zombieland movie. Hopefully she doesn't always get to play the same role over and over again cause I feel she can really do more and I really think that she has a bright future ahead. In terms of the story, as I said it is quite the same from the first movie. However, they really up the notch of bringing in more zombies which results to being more chaotic, more bloody and more of an action-packed than the last film. I think my only concern of this movie is how the story went cause it really didn't move forward the Zombieland franchise. Would have liked it if they had introduced more stuffs in it just as long as it fits perfectly with what they have and maybe have the story be in a different direction. Eventually, they may do those things if a new sequel will be delivered in the near future and I'm hopeful that they will create a sequel to Zombieland: Double Tap. I'm curious though of what will be the title of the third Zombieland movie if they're going to use one of Columbus' rules just like they did with Double Tap. Maybe, Zombieland: Limber Up? Zombieland: Ziploc Bags? Well, let's soon found out.

OVERALL

Zombieland: Double Tap brought justice to the first movie by having more new entertaining characters while still keeping the fun and undeniably charismatic chemistry with the original main characters. Their dynamic relationship is still there and they were able to progress the character's storyline even further. The performances were really good and there were scenes that really made me laugh out loud (like literally, laugh so loud). There are scenes that were really bad-ass especially at the first part of it of the slow-mo sequence reminiscing from the first movie. It is much more bloodier, more zombies to kill and overall a much thrilling and action-packed than the original. If you liked or even loved watching the first Zombieland, I highly recommend its sequel Zombieland: Double Tap as you will definitely have such a good time watching it. This movie might make it on my list as one of the best movies in 2019 (for me at least).
