Alpha is a historical adventure film written and directed by Albert Hughes which follows a young hunter named "Keda" played by Kodi Smit-McPhee who got lost from his tribe during the hunting season and befriended an injured wolf which tried to attack him. The plot sets around 20,000 years and its all about survival story for Keda trying to return to his family accompanied with a very cute and loyal wolf at his side.
The film is so visually striking and so pleasing in the eyes. I liked the CGI used in this film and unlike other films that feature CGI heavily, it really was beautiful to watch and it's like seeing it for real. Though there are portions of it that were obviously shot in CGI, you just barely notice it and it doesn't take anything away off-putting or weirdness of the film. The film also has a very good storyline as well. It's about this young hunter Keda played by Kodi who did such a good job anchoring the whole film which features his human character alone for the most part and this very cute and lovable loyal wolf named "Alpha" played by a 6-year old wolfdog "Chuck". Not only the survival storyline applicable to Keda but it also mirrors the same story to our favorite animal character Alpha. Everytime Alpha pops-out on the screen, it just really made me smile and I just wanna cheer for the two of them to survive. The bond between Alpha and Keda truly won my heart for this film. They start off as somewhat enemies then you will see both of them having this adventure together which I really love about the film. The film has a straightforward storyline. It's a survival story and given with its premise it would have resulted to a borefest film but it turns out that it is a very sweet and beautiful film centered around survivability and domestication of wild animals at the prehistoric age.

OVERALL
ALPHA is a film that you will appreciate due to its amazing cinematography and visual effects. You will even like this film more if you have owned a pet to yourself. I certainly enjoyed watching this film and Alpha just melted my heart. I liked the storyline of the film which features about survivability and companionship. It goes to show that you can form an unbreakable bond even to your enemies as well.
