Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot is a drama movie based from a memoir of John Callahan, a cartoonist of a publishing company from Portland known for his cartoonish drawings dealing with macabre and physical disabilities themes. He's a quadriplegic which he got from an auto accident while he was drunk and follows a story of his extensive recoveries due to his drinking problems. This movie stars the talented Joaquin Phoenix playing John Callahan and feature other stars such as Jack Black, Jonah Hill and Rooney Mara. This is written and directed by Gus Van Sant.

This movie is all about portraying the life challenges of John Callahan after the moment he got his whole body paralyzed. He's a troubled man dealing with serious drinking problems which were beautifully portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix. He played the character with so many emotions such as sadness, anger, and fear and you could tell that he mastered the craft of portraying such specific character. This heavy-drama movie is really hard to watch especially knowing the situation of John Callahan has but witnessing the whole movie of him trying to fix his life was inspirational to me. It's like watching someone helplessly fall and witnessing that same person successfully got up. Jonah Hill was also great from this movie. He played an openly-gay sober man named "Donnie" who helped John Callahan's sobriety and Jonah has given that character with a very strong yet vulnerable vibe to it. This is a redemption journey for him and he has to take some challenges for every step that he had to make on this journey. I may not know the guy personally but seeing him tryna recover himself makes me want to cheer for him.

OVERALL

DON'T WORRY, HE WON'T GET FAR ON FOOT is a likeable movie because of its more personal story. This is a good drama movie surrounded with amazing casts. If you're into drama movies with deep character development, then this movie is for you. It's an independent film that just showcases more of Joaquin Phoenix's performances. I could tell that he his indeed the right choice to play Joker. I could not wait for him to see him perform that iconic character and watching this movie was closer in seeing that.
