Flatliners is a sci-fi, psychological horror film directed by Niels Arden Oplev and story written by Ben Ripley. It's a remake of the 1990's Flatliners movie and stars Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton and Kiersey Clemons. The plot follows of five medical students who conducted various experiments to check what lies ahead from the afterlife.

I've never seen the original version of this film so I have no idea what the film is all about. Granted, the movie's plot was really intriguing at first but what waits ahead was just a flat and boring movie that I couldn't wait to end. I like the sci-fi element to it because it keeps me intrigued about the whole plot of the film. I was not a fan on how they blended the sci-fi and horror element to it. Some great horror films are coming from a background with science-fiction but this one just doesn't manage to even be that interesting nor frightening. The movie is filled with unnecessary dramatic moments that sometimes it just doesn't fit to the tone. The characters were "meh" and it didn't work for me. I didn't even understand what the movie is all about. It's storyline is so scattered that It really hard to keep up with it.

OVERALL

FLATLINERS is one of those films that should have not been remade at the first place. It's a senseless film that is filled with jumpscares and dramatic moments that doesn't fit to the tone of the movie. The movie tried so hard to be a film with multiple genre that ultimately is the reason what made this film sunk so much. It's a boring film from start to finish and I just didn't really understand what the film is all about.
