MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN (O-RVZ MOVIE REVIEW)

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is the Sequel to the 2008's original movie Mamma Mia. All the casts from the original movie return to this sequel of another storytelling serving as a prequel from the original movie that shows us the events with the first meetings of Donna Sheridan and the 3 men who could be the father of her Daughter, Sophie. It also serves as a sequel continuing the events after the original film. We also have new faces from the movie more prominent Lily James playing the younger Donna Sheridan. And of course, as the title suggests and also like the previous movie. It features ABBA soundtracks heavily.

I'm just going to quickly review the original film. I did not like the original film. I think the original film was overused with music. The story stuck up too long and by the time that they have done so many song sequences, you've lost interest with its storyline. Meryl Streep was underused and from a super talented actress like her, you could have put more into her character development. This sequel, however, was surprisingly good. I liked the idea of going back again to those specific events where she met the 3 men. It gives more depth to her character and we get to know a lot of her in which the original movie didn't explore. The choreography accompanied by ABBA's hit songs were also good. I liked it even more so than the original. When you think of it, I really want a movie which focuses on the entire library of any famous bands or rockstars. That would be really interesting as long as they properly balanced the 2 major components, music and story. This movie had definitely done that. Amidst of all those song sequences, we get to have a story that really keeps going. We get to know more of the story from Donna and we also get to know the story of her Daughter Sophie right after the event of the original film. What I didn't like about this movie though is some of the new characters. Some of them didn't work out on me that much. I think they were not necessary and the movie would have still worked even without them.

OVERALL

MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN is an enjoyable sequel more so than the original. The songs were good and the story was also good. It was also great to see that all of the original casts returned for another rodeo. I also liked some of the new faces added to this movie. They were also good that adds something valuable in it. If you did enjoy the original movie, I think you would enjoy this one even more.
