Outlaw King is a Netflix historical action drama film based on Robert the Bruce, a rebellious King of Scots who fought against the wide English army. The film is directed by David Mackenzie who also directed "Hell or High Water" with Chris Pine playing as Robert the Bruce. If you have watched the classic film "Braveheart" which was directed and played by Mel Gibson as William Wallace, it's not a direct sequel to "Braveheart" but its story continues right after the execution of William that was ordered from the King of England.
I'm not going to say anything about which part of the film is fictionalized and which part of it was based from history since I'm not a historian but let's talk about the quality of this film. The film was very well made considering that this is a Netflix produced film and given how wide its scope is. The war scene at the end was really up to par with other war films distributed by other big companies. The costumes looked good and the cinematography of it was just beautiful. I should also point out that this film does include some sex and nudity so I wouldn't want to recommend this to watch together with any children and also there are a couple of scenes that were really graphic and gory thanks to their masterful use of practical effects. Can't say too much if I really liked the story of it but as a film standpoint, I think its story progression felt too fast for me considering I barely watched Christ Pine's character for a merely of 20mins or so. If they have made this much longer enough just so they could build and set-up Robert The Bruce character, his rebellion turn against the kingdom of England would have been a big impact and made much more sense to me. Other than that, I think this film was a pretty solid one. I liked Chris Pine's performance in it. His take on his character as a kind and noble yet very strategic King really sold me to it. The war action sequences were really that good. Its practical effects looked so realistic that made me wonder if they have used real horses during that war sequence. I hope it was all CGI because I wouldn't want real horses to be hurt.

OVERALL
OUTLAW KING is a very good historical war film that you should definitely watch on Netflix. I may have some pacing issue right at the start of it but its solid performances from the casts and the amazing war action sequences really sold on me. It has some beautiful cinematography that showed some landscapes and its practical effects were exceptionally well done. Looked closely real considering its constraint budget as a Netflix film. It's an epic film no doubt that I truly recommend for you to watch on Netflix.
