Ready Player One is a science fiction film directed by the iconic filmmaker Steven Speilberg. This film is based from a novel of the same name about a boy and his friends joining a virtual reality contest of solving puzzles and keys to get the final prize which is the "Easter Egg". This "Easter Egg" contains partial ownership to the virtual world called "OASIS" and they have to face challenges such as the greedy organization of getting the reward by themselves for selfish reasons. This film referenced so many pop cultures that we currently have. They referenced characters from popular video games, movies, and even classic films. This is a groundbreaking film with very impressive CGI. We get to witness all the famous characters from another medium in one single film. It was really trippy and yet awesome to witness at the same time. It's hard to think how they get all those single rights of those characters to be used in this film but when your name is Steven Spielberg, I guess it's easy to get. Watching this film reminds me of one of those classic fantasy films which I really loved so much. It's a bright and light-hearted film yet it is so closely related to the real-life situation we're currently living in. Steven just does it. He can just pick any current issue or scenario that we have and he can just successfully blended it with happy and bright elements from his film. Not only that, it also felt so nostalgic watching this film because of all those pop-culture references. The actors were also great in this as well. Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn and Mark Rylance, they were a solid addition to this film thanks to their performances. The first half of the film is kinda intriguing to watch. You just can't wait of what is in store and what other surprises you might get into. The second or the middle part of this film was my favorite. So many exciting and funny sequences especially to that second challenge. The third or right to the final act was a bit of a drag. I don't know why but there is something between this act that really drags it down for me. Maybe its the way they're switching from the virtual world to the real world back and forth and it was hard for me to choose which one should I focus on. There were questionable moments from this film that just doesn't make any sense. Sure it's a sci-fi film, everything just doesn't really make sense but the way how the characters react to certain scenarios just doesn't make sense to me.

OVERALL
READY PLAYER ONE is still a fun and entertaining film filled with awesome characters we've already known. It's hard to look at them in one viewing and this kind of a film really has to be viewed multiple times if you really want to spot all those references. This film also tells an important lesson about the virtual world and the real world. It affects me so much because as a Gamer and a Movie fan, I know how the lead character feels. Sometimes, you just really want to escape the reality you're currently living in and just immerse yourself to the wonderful and magical world that the movies or games have. It's one of those Steven Spielberg greats and one of his films that will surely be remembered.
