It's a film adapted from the novel "The Chinaman" where Ngoc Minh Quan an ex-special forces seeking revenge from the men who are responsible of a bombing that leads to his daughter's death. Jackie Chan whom we famously known from Rush Hour movies and other classics Chinese martial arts films who plays the character which is kinda opposite from his previous works that are usually happy and goofy. It's a dark, gritty tale that surprisingly fits to Jackie Chan which is something that we are not used to see him from his previous films. The performances of the actors were really wonderful especially to Jackie Chan. His sad emotions and expressions is just as effective when him playing a happy and energetic character. You can really feel his energetic performances from some of his lighter and comedic films while this one you could really feel his loss and sad emotions. I'm really not used to seeing a "sad" Jackie Chan but this film is really effective and quite an emotional and heartbreaking tale. I like the story of the film that also puts a political thriller vibe to it. As this is a Jackie Chan film, expected that there are going to be some action-fighting scenes. There's not quite many fighting scenes involved with it since it is mostly involved with gun shooting or explosive scenes but they were really well choreographed (he's Jackie Chan after all).

OVERALL
THE FOREIGNER is a very different film from Jackie Chan in terms of its story and tone (at least from what I've seen so far). If you're used to seeing Jackie Chan in movies that are lighter and more of his goofier characteristic then this one is a very different from that. It's not a bad thing because he nailed this role and it just means that he can do also the heavy stuff on the dramatic side. I like the political-thriller story of the movie and the action sequences. The movie is quite good and is definitely worth to watch.
