WIDOWS (O-RVZ MOVIE REVIEW)

Widows is a crime heist film directed by Steve McQueen who also co-wrote the screenplay along with Gillian Flynn. It stars Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Erivo, Colin Farrell, Liam Neeson and other big names from Hollywood. The plot follows about a group of women who planned a robbery heist which led by Veronica Rawlings (Viola Davis) in order to pay back a crime boss after their criminal husbands are killed on a botched job.

Widows is a very good film that has some twists and turns around its storyline. The film is surrounded with very talented names and Viola Davis' performance was one of the standouts of the film. Her character is vulnerable and weak right after the death of her husband and she perfectly embodied that character by giving a very subtle yet powerful performance. I also like the story of this film. I like the way how this film was structured. It's a very stylish and detailed film. It's pacing was also well established that keeps its audiences on track of its storyline. They have carefully set-up the film from the beginning of it right through the ending of it. It's a heist film so expect that there are going to be plannings in between before the heist and the film does a good job of properly set-up those plans that are realistic and without feeling it to be rushed. The climax or the heist part of the film was really intense and thrilling. You could really feel the excitement yet you will also feel some vulnerability on these characters considering that these women didn't have any experience at all in planning and executing a heist. This film has some plot twist that is really shocking. They really execute it really well. Some parts from the film does provide some hints and clues leading up to the twist but not to the point that it's becoming quite predictable.

OVERALL

WIDOWS is a very solid film that has very talented casts. I like the storyline and I also like the dark twist of the film. The performances around these women characters were really brilliant and because of them, this film really works. I am a sucker for heist films and this film is definitely one of the best heist films of 2018.
